When I learned about the benefits of consuming raw Cannabis , I started to incorporate it into my daily routine. When I started feeling differences for the better, I knew it was time to educate. I believe in the power of plants to heal the body. I am a vegan stoner so; plants are my life!

My journey to learning, consuming, and experiencing the benefits of raw Cannabis , started a few years ago. I was listening to The Breakfast Club, and listened to Dr. Sebi’s (a famous Herbalist and Healer) family talking about the multitude of benefits associated with eating and juicing raw Cannabis. They main reason, no acid and lung damage like smoking, and because it keeps the plant/flower in its alkaline state.

An alkaline diet is one that doesn’t consume acidic foods. Healthline, describes acidic foods as: meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, grains, alcohol, and describes alkaline foods as: fruits, nuts, legumes, and vegetables. 

Cannabis, in its raw form, is alkaline if non-acidic (proper pH) soil was used to grow it. When we smoke Cannabis, we are taking it from an alkaline state in our bodies, to an acidic state. Smoke increases acid secretion in the stomach. 

Cannabis- A Superfood

Dr. William Courtney, MD, of the International Cannabinoid Research Society, the International Association of Cannabis as Medicine, and the Society of Clinical Cannabis and the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine, says that he wants to refer to Cannabis not as a medicine, but as a dietary need/requirement. 

Cannabis is packed with protein, minerals, vitamins, fibers, and antioxidants. Raw Cannabis is loaded with digestible proteins, and essential amino acids (the ones that can’t be synthesized in the body). Raw Cannabis has a great ratio of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids, with antioxidant properties.

What is Being Consumed When Eating Raw Cannabis


Though there are many benefits associated smoking Cannabis, specifically related to pain and mental health, but there are elements of the plant lost when smoking. Elements that may be needed for certain ailments. 

When consuming raw cannabis, CBD or THC aren’t really being consumed. What’s being consumed is the acid forms of these components- Cannabidolic Acid (CBD-A) and Tetrahydrocannabonolic Acid (THC-A). And though acids, they are in fact antioxidants. We lose those components when we smoke Cannabis.

All terpenes stay intact when consuming raw Cannabis. We do keep some when smoking, but others. Also, raw Cannabis consumption means cleansing toxic accumulations and consuming fibers and foliates.

Ways to Eat Raw Cannabis

There are many ways to consume raw Cannabis. My favorite is by way of capsules that I create, paired with other medicinal herbs. The most popular way is to juice Cannabis and/or adding Cannabis flower to smoothie blends. 

As a garnish on a salad is also an easy way to consume raw Cannabis and when nothing else works, just chew the flower/leaf/stem down. Either way, you’re giving your body one of the best and most medicinal plants ever!
